For a very long time, I had looked at the map of South America and wondered about those 3 tiny countries at the top -- the countries that no one knew even existed. One of those countries, Guyana, actually had a huge immigrant population in New York, where I'm from. It was the only English speaking country in South America, they said. It was a country of unspoiled natural beauty, they also said. With the world slowly reopening again, I knew I had to go. Guyana is not rich, but with it's recent discovery of oil, that will be changing very soon.
