Manila 🇵🇭 is a city of contrasts. In some places, like the famous BGC neighborhood, you can find glistening skyscrapers and "first world" amenities that could rival anywhere in the world. And yet right next to it lies something very different. Over the years, informal tenements and slums sprung up all over the city, which is exactly what you'll find surrounding BGC. A literal wall separates the richest of the Philippines from those of more humble means. If you visit, Filipinos will tell you to never go there, to never cross the boundaries that divide BGC and the surrounding slums. But I was curious. I could literally see these places from my window. And more importantly, I had to get to the damn Western Union.
