Los Angeles, the city of angels. Or so that's what they say. It's the 2nd largest city in the US, with over 12 million people within it's metro area and it attracts millions of visitors annually from around the world. But what defines Los Angeles, really? Is it Hollywood? Santa Monica? Compton? Traveling from one end of the massive sprawling city to the other, from Skid Row to the Palisades, I could notice only one commonality: the city was insanely unaffordable to the average person, and it seemed like the homeless population was on every block. Just how shocking was this situation? The news make it sound like the city was in a constant state of chaos. I'm used to hearing the same thing said about my own city of New York--much of it is overblown. But LA felt different.
