New Orleans's Resilience & Culinary Brilliance | Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations

New Orleans, a city known for its love of food, music, and life, was forever changed by Hurricane Katrina; yet today, New Orleans is still a vibrant and spectacular town, and who better to explore the true impact of Katrina on this unique city than Anthony Bourdain. Tom Fitzmorris, a food critic and host of a local food radio show, is also eager to show Tony around his New Orleans and takes him to Antoine's, a French Quarter restaurant famous for serving legendary Creole food and one of the first restaurants to get back up and running after the storm. There, they sample oysters Rockefeller and fresh lump crabmeat, two New Orleans favorites. When asked why he chose to come back after the storm, their server simply stated, "It's in my blood." Few remained in the city after Katrina, but those few are a dedicated, headstrong few. Craig Cuccia, a former boxer, is in charge of Café Reconcile, one of the first restaurants to reopen after Katrina. It is a teaching restaurant with rotating groups of students who learn all aspects of the restaurant business, from cooking to washing windows. They are changing their lives for the better, thanks to Craig.
