The first time these two met was in the earliest days of MMA, at UFC 1. In that fight, Gracie forced Shamrock to submit to a rear-naked-choke less than one minute into the fight. In the rematch, at UFC 5, the two fought to a draw after 36 minutes. The results of those two fights, which took place more than 20 years ago, have never sat well with Shamrock, and that’s why he always pined for a third fight against Gracie. After Friday night, it’s safe to suspect Shamrock will want a fourth fight.
