Please read description for full story about how I got started Foodrangin. I visited Istanbul, Turkey, in July 2015 as one of the first places to go Foodrangin' outside of China. This is where I met Ting Ting, and now we're both full time foodrangin in China and outside whenever we get the time. She's filming every episode, translating, and managing all the behind the scenes stuff. Thank you for your continued support!
I'm currently studying hard at the Sichuan Higher Institute of Cuisine in Chengdu, China. I'll be here for another 2 years! I can't wait to film more and more and I'm uploading this video super late because I never published it and I wanted to show you where I met Ting Ting and how I began my food journeys.
This is how it all began. I came to China in 2014 as a masters student with a full scholarship to study international trade in Chengdu. It wasn't actually my goal or dream to do this, but I decided to do it because I figured it was a good backup plan if foodrangin didn't go through. Now I've dropped out of that program to study at culinary school, all possible through youtube. I dropped the scholarship and am paying through my own pocket now.
For my first two years in China, I payed for travel through private english teaching one on one. This payed for my trips to Malaysia, Turkey, Thailand, and India. I would go to study for my masters in the afternoon, and I found gigs teaching children one on one for 2 hours at a time nearly every hour I had free. After 2 years of making videos, the revenue from youtube began to be enough that I could survive in China and no longer needed to teach English privately. It helps that it's quite cheap in China, so saving up for travel was quite easy.
Now, this upcoming January, I'm taking a trip to India, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka, all payed for through Youtube. This is all thanks to you for watching my videos and I'm so grateful to have you as my viewer!
Thank you for watching! Please leave me a comment down below and I'll do my best to reply!
